skies, sun until after midnight, fresh and crispy air… Norway can give a
serious boost of vitamin D during the summer and be something magical to
experience! Besides good weather, Norway and the Jotunheimen, can promise much
more in terms of fun, challenges, and relax!
Come with us in this journey from Oslo to Bergen, whilst touch briefly the
inner regions of Sognefjord and Innlandet. From buzzing city vibes, experience
adrenaline and serotonin with a backdrop of majestic mountains and deep, serene
fjords; challenge your balance on mountain crests and prepare to discover which
hues of blue take snow and ice during the summer! Hike along historic paths and
don't forget to look down on deep valleys, goosebumps of pleasure guaranteed!
Day 1
Bus ride to Jotunheimen
Today you
will start your Norwegian summer adventure with a scenic bus ride of 4 hours
which will take you from the vibrant, modern capital of Oslo towards more
laid-back sceneries, in the frame of Beitostølen, a little village in the
mountainous region of Jotunheim, once farm area turned into ski-mecca for both
alpine and cross-country enthusiasts, and with many other activities.
If you arrive with the early bus, you can as start your journey of exploration
with a hike, depending on your level of training and the length you desire.

Day 2
Hike Besseggen
Today you
will be more in action with a hike on the ridge of Besseggen; take the bus to
Gjendesheim, across the second highest mountain road in Norway, Valdresflye, and
then the boat across the lake Gjende, to the starting point of the hike.
Besseggen it's a tough path which requires a bit of effort, planning in terms
of equipment and weather check, but gifts incredible views at a height of
almost 1000 m.a.s.l.
Despite the difficulty, this is an immensely popular hike in Norway, with over
60,000 visitors each year willing to test their skills on the ridge and eager
to witness first-hand the contrast between the Gjende lake and Leirunge.
The path will take you over the ridge over a period of 7-9 hours and at the end
of the day, tired, but satisfied, you will catch the bus back to Beitostølen
where you will be able to choose from multiple restaurants a well-deserved
dinner!

Day 3
Boat cruise Jotunheimen and glacier hike
Begin the
day with an early bus ride to Bygdin, high up in the Jotunheim; from here you
will embark the M/B Bitihorn, a historic ferry (active since 1909), for a
scenic cruise along the lake Bygdin (yep, same name as the village) in
direction of Eidsbugarden. Here your guide will pick you up for a thrilling
hike on a glacier!
A guided glacier hiking is something perfect for summer, with cool temperatures
and several hues of blues and whites waiting to be impressed on camera, to show
your friends that you can withstand the temperatures of Norway and you're not
afraid to be walking on ice!
Get towed with your fellow ice climbers and run around the plateau in search of
the best shot to be online, but remember not to lose track of time!

Day 4
Borgund Stave church, King's Road, world's longest car tunnel
A good part
of Norwegian daily life revolves around physical activity in nature, often on
ancient trails passing by historic monuments; today we will show you churches
and royal roads! From Filefjell take the bus towards the Borgund Stave Church,
a small yet renowned church still in use, with the typical architecture of
mixed Christian and Pagan elements; it will not be possible to enter inside,
but the outer view it's still fascinating! Behind the church, follow a hidden
path leading you to the King's Road. The name derives by royal edicts which
called for the construction – and maintenance – of a road able to connect Oslo
to Bergen. The trail was first constructed between 1790s with further upgrading
in the 1800s and it is still possible to see the difference between the older
trail (steeper and narrower) before you follow hairpins turns down to the main
road.
After this activity in a breath-taking environment, you will take the bus in
direction Sognefjord, reaching the of Gudvangen, where you will be welcomed at
your next accommodation.

Day 5
Flåm Railway, Zipline, Bicycle tour
Take the
bus from Gudvangen to Flåm and get ready to get some serious action! Today
you'll be experimenting the Flåm Railway, and Rallarvegen. Flåm Railway is a
train trail whose construction required 20 years, despite being relatively
short (20 km), and it has fame to be is the steepest standard-gauge railway in
Europe. Take the train from Flåm and arrive in Finse; from here you will start
the Rallarvegen.
Rallarvegen is the name given to the construction route used until 1909 to transfer
materials used in the construction of the Oslo-Bergen railway. "Rallar"
was the name of the work force which later gave the name to this road, and it
was opened for cycling in 1974; it brings you through a fantastic highland area
starting at 1000 meters above sea level, peaking at 1350 meters for then to
lead you back down to the fjords at sea level.

Day 6
Bus ride to Bergen
After this enriching experience, you will be taking the bus to the second city of the kingdom, Bergen! After a 3-hour ride, you will reach the coastal town which has served as capital city during Medieval times, first center of commerce until 1850 and cultural center of the country; here you will be able to observe a multi-cultural and international environment which gives a vibrant atmosphere wherever you go, perfect closing for this wonderful adventure!
