Day 1

Bus ride to Sognefjord, Viking village

Start your family adventure with a scenic ride from the second city of kingdom, Bergen, towards more laid-back landscapes. Let the skyline of the city be replaced by lushing, green-leafed peaks and powerful streams which fills your eyes with beautiful images.
After 2,5 hours you will arrive at your first destination, Gudvangen.
In Gudvangen there have always been several places of worship since pre-Christian times, as the name suggests ("vang" being the noun for open space in front of places of worship, and "Gud" as noun for God), but today locals have recreated a Viking village to remember and celebrate the importance of the place in local history. Wander through the huts and discover how Vikings used to live, work and spent their free time.
After this enriching experience, you will be enjoying some well-deserved rest in your accommodation.

Day 2

Flåm Railway, Zipline, Bicycle tour

Take the bus from Gudvangen to Flåm and get ready to get some serious action! Today you'll be experimenting the Flåm Railway, a train trail whose construction required 20 years, despite being relatively short (20 km), due to geographical features. It has fame to be is the steepest standard-gauge railway in Europe, and you will be able to see it with your eyes; mountains dramatically cutting down to valleys, rich and powerful waterfalls, whilst you can enjoy the views from a cushy, cozy and comfy seat in the warmth of the train. After the scenic ride – and maybe a close encounter with Huldras - get down at Myrdal, and cycle down to Vatnahalsen, where you will harness your adrenaline with the Flåm zipline, the longest in Scandinavia with a whooping 1381 m. Shoot yourself at 100 km/h, admire the pin-point turns of the old mountain road and reach the valley, where you will take the bicycle and spin away in direction of the Flåm Marina, ready to take the connection back to Gudvangen.

Day 3

World's longest car tunnel, kayak tour

After the adrenaline and the frenzies of the mountains, it's time to discover the hidden side of the fjords in summer! Take the bus through one of the longest car tunnels in the world – Lærdalstunnel – and reach Årdalstangen, city of aluminum production heritage, but off-the-beaten-path natural destination nowadays!
Beautiful to see from ferries and boats, perfect to be experienced at a close distance, fjords represent a huge source of fascination, but were as well natural playground for all sea kayakers!
Sea kayak may seem daunting to many, but it allows new perspectives during a period when most of the fjords are buzzing with life, rewarding the brave paddlers with saturated colors, smells and flavors not easily discoverable from ferries and mainland … During this 3-hour activity you will learn how to steer a kayak to the discover of Sognefjord's most tranquil arm, in the beautiful frame of Årdal, village known for its rich history in wood commerce and aluminum production which still has its importance nowadays. Glide silently on the water, observing the deep hues of blue contrasting the greens of the mountains, and lean your ears to catch the sound of hidden activity under or above the sea!

Day 4

Be a summer farmer for 24h

Norway traditions, culture and history are largely based on resources and men brought up in rustic environments, so what's better for a cultural dive than experience first-hand rural life in the mountains?
Take the bus in the morning and reach Vang, from there you will be picked up and transferred to a remote summer farm where you will observe and interact with animals and the host and live as in old times; children – under careful supervision of adults – may even try to milk cows for the first time, or experience the process of cheese or butter making, something which is not so common nowadays!
You will be making and eating the meals together with the host, made with very local ingredients, and enjoy the quiet and silence of high mountains whilst breathing in pure, clean air.

Day 5

Bus ride to Oslo

The early bird gets the worm, according to the saying… Your day will start early, since farms' first priority of the day is to milk cows and processing the milk straightaway, but no fears, you will get breakfast and you will have some free time before our host accompanies you to catch the bus for Oslo. Whilst you observe the profile of the mountains in the background, we're pretty sure that new core memories will have formed after this exciting and entertaining adventure and an unforgettable image of the Jotunheimen will be forever impressed in your heart and mind.
