Trip itinerary:
Day 1
Eat like a local
Reach Fagernes and start your exploration with a visit to local producers of delicacies in the outskirts of Fagernes and then reach the heart of Valdres, settling down at your accommodation! Fagernes is the economic headquarter of the Valdres region, a corner well known to Norwegians for its proximity to Jotunheimen parks and easily connected to both Oslo and other destinations worth visiting!
Day 2
Valdres Museum
Start your day with a visit to the Fagernes Museum where you can learn about the unicity of the Valdres region! Besides being a renowned ski destination, Valdres is famed for the production of Rakfisk, as well as musical instruments! You will have plenty of time to stroll around and enjoy the views before the bus transfer to your next accommodation.
Day 3
Snowshoe hike Vindhella
After a relaxing morning, your guide will take you past the famed Borgund Stave Church onto a snowshoe hike on the historical King's Road! During winter the church is closed, so you will be able to admire just the external parts, before stretching your legs on the King's Road, but its beauty remains unmatched!
Vindhella – the King's Road part you'll be visiting - displays both the original and the more recent sections used since 1780s to connect Oslo and Bergen. You will be able to see the difference between the two trails before descending a hairpin road towards Husum. The guide will take you back to the starting point, where you will walk towards the bus stop where you will take the connecting bus towards the next destination.
Day 4
Flåmsbana Train Ride
Following our journey, today you will start with a ride on the Flåmsbana – one of the most beautiful train rides in the world, as well as one of the steepest! The trails snakes up dramatic mountains, gifting the travelers with panoramic worth the wildest reveries! With one brief stop to admire frozen waterfalls, you will be changing trains at the station of Myrdal, where you'll catch the train back to Flåm; here you will have some time to wander around before travelling towards the accommodation in Gudvangen.
Day 5
Viking
Village
Travel back in time by paying a visit to the Viking Village of Gudvangen! In this area there have always been several places of worship since pre-Christian times, but today locals have recreated a Viking village to remember and celebrate the importance of the place in local history.
After this enriching experience, you will be taking the bus to the second city of the kingdom, Bergen!
